Pharmacokinetics in augmented renal clearance, gram negative antimicrobial therapy in septic shock, opioid stewardship in critically ill trauma patients, enteral nutrition in hemodynamically unstable patients

Practice Philosophy:
In caring for acute and critically ill patients, I seek to serve my patients through collaborative efforts with the inter-disciplinary team, focusing on communication and individual expertise. In the academic setting, I strive for consistent education to support evidence-based decision making by the healthcare team, especially in trainees moving forwards throughout their careers.

Bio:
Dr. David Li is board certified in critical care and nutrition support. He is a staff pharmacist II at UC Davis Health. Dr. Li attended pharmacy school at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy where he developed an interest in critical care, cardiology and solid organ transplant. Following graduation, he completed a PGY1 acute care residency at University of Kentucky Healthcare and stayed for a second year critical care residency. During PGY2, Dr. Li developed practice areas of interest in CT surgery/surgical critical care and nutrition support. Research areas of interest include augmented renal clearance in the critically ill, opioid stewardship and nutrition in the ICU. Following completion of his PGY2, he accepted a position with UCDH, focusing on cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology and nutrition support. Additionally, he is involved in the nutrition subcommittee, ECLS quality improvement, and the clinical practice council.
