Bio:
Dr. Nicola Clayton is a Senior Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacist at UC Davis Health. She completed her PGY1 Acute Care residency here at UCDMC in 2015 and went on to complete a PGY2 Infectious Diseases Residency at UCDMC in 2016, and then continued to work at UCDMC as a clinical pharmacist practicing in Infectious Diseases. Dr. Clayton has a special interest in the communication skills pharmacists use to build relationships and convey recommendations to interdisciplinary teams and she considers herself an antibiotic sommelier, pairing the correct drug with the identified bug. She is also the pharmacist leader of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at UCD Health, which was designated as an IDSA Antimicrobial Stewardship Center of Excellence in 2019.
Dr. Clayton is a board-certified infectious diseases pharmacist. In addition, she holds a volunteer faculty position with the UCSF School of Pharmacy and was nominated for Preceptor of the Year 2016-2017 and 2018-2019. She completed UCSF’s Master Preceptor Program and co-presented “Make your Voice Heard: Teaching Learners How to Make Effective Recommendations”, a preceptor development continuing education program, as part of UCDMC’s Pharmacy Grand Rounds Series.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading literature no one else likes, traveling to the most obnoxious tourist destinations, and wrangling her two daughters into wearing matching outfits.
