Evidence-Based Practice Immersive Training
In addition to the EBP Fellowship, the Center for Nursing Science offers an intensive four-day EBP Immersion Training program. This unique course provides a deep dive into the tools and resources needed to drive change and improve practice. This program is ideal for clinicians from across the interdisciplinary team who want to elevate their practice and learn a structured EBP methodology. Participants receive mentorship from the EBP Specialist, Clinical Nurse Scientists, Clinical Librarians, and EBP Mentors.
The objectives for this program include:
- Understand the Value of Evidence-Based Practice:
Discuss the importance of EBP in enhancing healthcare quality, patient outcomes, and promoting a culture of clinical inquiry. - Differentiate Between EBP, Quality Improvement, and Research:
Recognize the unique goals and applications of EBP, QI, and research, and understand how they work together to support clinical inquiry and improve patient care outcomes. - Formulate a Clinical Question:
Learn to develop an effective PICOT or CoCoPop question, access resources, and evaluate internal and external evidence relevant to clinical inquiries. - Critically Appraise and Synthesize Evidence to Inform Practice:
Differentiate between research methodologies, critically appraise various levels of evidence, understand statistical concepts, and synthesize findings from multiple studies to develop an evidence-based recommendation.
The UC Davis Health EBP Immersion Training program is available to UC Davis Health staff and focuses on ARCC Model EBP steps 0–4, equipping them to make preliminary evidence-based recommendations by the end of the week. While previous cohorts covered mentoring, implementation, and dissemination within the program, these topics will now be offered separately through the Center for Nursing Science to allow for a deeper exploration of each area.
