NICU Certification Review, Day 2

This course is based on the study guide provided by the National Certification Corporation (NCC). Day 2 includes review of neuroprotection and developmental care. Neuro conditions in the neonatal population will also be reviewed in addition to conditions of the Head, Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat. Neonatal gastrointestinal conditions, including necrotizing enterocolitis, will be reviewed. Neonatal infections will be discussed, including a review of the hematopoietic system. Genetic, metabolic and endocrine conditions will be presented. Nutrition, feeding and electrolytes will also be reviewed. Lastly, principles of neonatal pharmacology will be discussed.

Community RNs are welcomed to attend but must adhere to the virtual requirements (see below).

Virtual Session Requirements and Preparation

  • Download Microsoft Teams (for your personal computer).
  • Download Microsoft Teams (for your UC Davis Health work computer).
  • Download the latest version of Microsoft Edge for best browser result.
  • Ensure access to audio and speaker on desktop/laptop or Smart device (may use call-in option for audio/speaker).
  • Follow the virtual participation guidelines, including being on camera, engaging in activities, and attesting to participation.
  • Employees seeking the flexibility to do trainings at home may choose to download MS Teams on their personal computers. UC Davis Health IT will not assist with personal computers and employees should use online resources to assist as needed. If employees choose not to work on their personal computers, they are welcome to use UC Davis Health computers in the workplace.

Accessing the Class Team

  1. Register for a class session.
  2. Access the MS Teams class link from the registration confirmation e-mail or through the UC Learning Center class details.
  3. Log into MS Teams at least 15 minutes before class.

Class Attendance

Be courteous and on time. Students are expected to attend and participate in the entire course. Due to the specific requirements for this virtual course, participants will not be allowed to attend the session if they are more than 20 minutes late. Late participants are considered a no show, and any deposit will be forfeited.

Continuing Education Contact Hours

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 26, for 8.0 contact hours.

Attendees will not receive C.E. credit if they are more than 20 minutes late; no partial credit can be awarded.

For the best experience, we recommend using a personal laptop or PC equipped with a camera. Wi-Fi speeds may vary depending on your location.

Cancellation must be requested five days prior to class date to receive a full refund. A $25 service fee will be charged after this date.

Parking
