The 2026 Annual Point of Care Testing (POCT) Trainer class is for staff designated by their managers as POCT trainers. All 2026 modules must be completed before attending class. Class time will emphasize how to complete the point of care tests and how to sign off skill observations. Participants will also provide return demonstration of POCT tests which will be observed and documented by a clinical lab scientist.
Attendance at this class is required to become a trainer and sign off staff; there is no train the trainer option this year.
This is a blended learning course that consists of online modules and an in-person class. This class is only open to UC Davis Health employees.
Each care area utilizes different POC tests based on the needs of their patients. If you are uncertain which tests your care area uses, please check with your leadership. Participants must complete the applicable POCT modules prior to class.
When the online modules are complete, staff will attend an in-person class emphasizing how to complete the point of care tests and how to sign off skill observations.
Participants must bring verification of modules completed to class. Participants may bring their UC Learning Center training transcript as proof or show their training transcript using the SumTotal Mobile app.
