See Me as a Person is a highly interactive 2-day workshop, emphasizing the “Four Therapeutic Practices,” of Attuning, Wondering, Following and Holding. By incorporating these practices in our daily interactions, the program aims to improve quality of care, safety, and the patient experience. This workshop is beneficial to support patients and their family members, and also strengthens the relationships between colleagues, friends, family, and more.
During the two days, participants gain the personal awareness, professional knowledge, and practical and repeatable skills required to see each patient as a person with their own unique backstory. Facilitators utilize a variety of teaching methods, which could include videos with emotional content, to address the needs of each participant and the group as a whole. Participants are encouraged to share personal stories that highlight their own experiences creating healthy therapeutic bonds with patients. Additionally, interactive facilitated activities ensure all participants engage in the relational aspects of the workshop. Self-care, also emphasized in Re-Igniting the Spirit of Caring, is also addressed as it is a precursor to the therapeutic practices.
This class is only open to UC Davis Health employees.
