This course is designed to provide information for registered nurses who care for patients with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). SCD affects about 100,000 people in the United States and is more common in certain population. Topics include but not limited to basic SCD foundation, pathophysiology, chronic and acute complications, management and treatment, psychosocial experience, and healthcare disparities. The course will utilize didactic method of teaching, case discussion, patient lived experience, and role playing to give attendees tools for effective communication techniques.
This class is only open to UC Davis Health employees.
