48X completes final milestone as fourth floor opens
The winter fog lifted Monday morning for a wonderful view of the Sierra Nevada mountains from the fourth floor of 48X. It was a symbolic moment: the building is now fully open and operational.
Clinical teams and leaders gathered for a ribbon‑cutting celebration as the first patient arrived. The fourth floor brings Vascular, Wound Management, Urology and surgery clinics together, completing a multi‑year rollout designed to unify key specialty services throughout the building and across UC Davis Health’s vast Ambulatory Care network.
Today represents months — and really years — of planning, coordination and partnership."—Christina Mintner, Senior Vice President and Associate Chief Operating Officer, Ambulatory Care Services
“Today represents months — and really years — of planning, coordination and partnership across operations, facilities, IT, clinical leadership and frontline teams,” said Senior Vice President and Associate Chief Operating Officer for Ambulatory Care Services Christina Mintner. “I want to commend the enthusiastic and creative teamwork that went into not only opening this new space in 48X, but the incredible lift of transitioning staff and patients from their prior clinic locations.”
With all floors now open, 48X offers a modern, patient‑centered surgical experience. Shared infrastructure, improved patient flow and standardized workstreams strengthen collaboration and create more efficient, streamlined care.
While Monday’s event marked a celebratory milestone, leaders emphasized opening day is just the beginning. Teams will continue refining processes and shaping how care is delivered in the new space.
Congratulations!
