Several inspiring stories have come in through The Insider’s story suggestion link, highlighting remarkable accomplishments by UC Davis Health staff. From national recognition to statewide leadership, here are some of the standout achievements:

Sabrina McKinney: National Nursing Recognition

In honor of Native American Heritage Month, the American Nurses Credentialing Center featured Sabrina McKinney, director of nursing professional development and the Center for Professional Practice of Nursing at UC Davis Health.

This recognition celebrates McKinney’s leadership and commitment to advancing nursing education.

David Mitchell: Leading California Pharmacists

David Mitchell, assistant chief for Specialty Pharmacy, has been elected president-elect of the California Pharmacists Association.

“Patient care is at the heart of our profession. By coming together through advocacy, legislation, and member engagement, we strengthen our membership community, empowering pharmacists to practice at the top of their license and individual standards and better serve patients and communities across California,” Mitchell said.

He will continue to serve as the association’s treasurer until April 2026, transition to president-elect at that time, then lead the organization as president in 2027. This three-year leadership progession positions Mitchell to help lead one of the largest pharmacy organizations in the nation.

Guobao Wang: IEEE Technical Achievement Award

Guobao Wang, professor and associate vice chair of research in the Department of Radiology, received the Freek J. Beekman Medical Imaging Technical Achievement Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

The award honors mid-career professionals making significant, innovative technical contributions that have advanced the state-of-the-art in medical imaging. Wang was recognized at the annual IEEE Medical Imaging Conference in Yokohama, Japan, for his contributions to advanced image reconstruction and translational kinetic modeling for quantitative PET (positron emission tomography).

Congratulations to Sabrina, David and Guobao for these outstanding achievements that reflect the talent and impact of UC Davis Health professionals.
