PS7 earns highest level in Parksmart sustainability certification
The Green Business Certification, Inc. awarded the Parksmart Gold certification – the program’s highest level – to UC Davis Health’s Parking Structure 7 (PS7).
Parksmart is the world’s only certification program for sustainable garages. It awards points in three categories: management, programs, and technology and structural design. Projects achieving Gold certification must earn at least 20 points in each category and a minimum of 160 points overall.
Michael Godfrey, director of Parking, Transportation and Fleet Services, said, “Gold certification is rare and requires rigorous documentation, cross-disciplinary coordination and engagement well beyond the core project team. Achieving this level places PS7 among a very limited national cohort.”
This marks the first Parksmart Gold designation on the UC Davis Health campus.
“It establishes a new benchmark for sustainable infrastructure within our health system and positions UC Davis Health as a leader in mobility-centered sustainability,” Godfrey said.
Kristina Bair, sustainability director, said, “Achieving Parksmart Gold is a tremendous accomplishment for the UC Davis Health sustainability program. It reflects our team’s unwavering commitment to innovation, environmental stewardship and operational excellence. This recognition underscores the real impact of our efforts to reduce emissions, improve transportation equity and build a healthier, more resilient campus for patients, staff and our broader community.”
