Construction activity: Impacts to sidewalk and bicycle lane between 45th and 48th Streets/Research Buildings 1, 2 and 3 service road
Monday, Oct. 20, through late November, the Central Utility Plant expansion (CUPx) team will perform work in the westbound bicycle lane and adjacent sidewalk between 45th and 48th Streets, as well as the service road for Research Buildings 1, 2 and 3 in preparation for the new Aggie Square Garage drive intersection.

Here is what to expect:
-
Westbound bicycle lane closure: The westbound bicycle traffic will merge with traffic with minimal vehicular traffic delays at 2nd Avenue.
-
North 2nd Avenue sidewalk closure: A section of the north 2nd Avenue sidewalk will be closed between the Research Building Service Drive and Lot 19 shuttle stop and pedestrians will be rerouted to the south 2nd Avenue sidewalk. Crosswalks located at 45th and 48th are to be utilized for a safe path across 2nd Avenue.
-
Lot 17 stall closure: For safety reasons, nine stalls in Lot 17 adjacent to the north 2nd Avenue sidewalk closure will be fenced off for the duration of work.
-
Research Building service drive closure at 2nd Avenue:
-
Passenger vehicle access to Lot 17 can be obtained via Lot 17/19 passthrough (see graphic). Lot 19 has two entrances/exits: 48th Street and 2nd Avenue.
-
Deliveries to the research buildings will be rerouted to Lot 12, accessed at 45th and Y Street, maintain one-way southbound traffic through the Research Building service drive and exit through Lots 17 and 19.
-
Delivery trucks too large to exit through Lots 17 and 19 will alternatively arrive via westbound 2nd Avenue and park adjacent to Research Building 3 with a temporary path provided to the loading docks, in which hand-driven pallet jacks can be utilized.
-
Upon completion of the new ASG drive intersection, the Research Building service drive will be restricted to deliveries with one-way southbound traffic and a right-hand turn only to exit onto 2nd Avenue.
