Home Care Services celebrates program milestones at anniversary event

(SACRAMENTO)

Home Care Services – a program that serves approximately 1,600 patients annually – recently celebrated major milestone anniversaries for four of its programs.

UC Davis Hospice celebrated its 45th anniversary; Home Health its 30th anniversary; Home-Based Palliative Care its 10th, and Inpatient Hospice its ninth year.

Fred Meyers, founder of the UC Davis Health Hospice Program, provided the keynote speech. Meyers attributed the success of the hospice and home care programs to “the amazing work of each and every one of the staff and clinicians who care and support the patients and their families on a daily basis.”

“The way Dr. Meyers spoke about Home Care Services today, you can still tell, 45 years later, that this was a project hatched from the heart,” said Valerie Chiappone, UC Davis Health Home Care Services team member.

Those in attendance also heard from Home Care Services’ physician leadership about how the programs personally affected their lives by allowing their loved ones to live their final days to the fullest.

The three-hour event, held Feb. 4, featured remarks by Hospice Medical Director Jack MacMillan, Home-Based Palliative Care Program Medical Director Pouria Kashkouli, and Home Care Services Administrator and Nurse Manager Stacey Magee.
