A testimonial
Bruce Felkins, Lead Carpenter for Plant Operations and Maintenance, has been carpooling for years. On the days he is not the driver, he enjoys “the downtime for an hour in the morning, minus the stress of the commute.” And as a passenger, “in the afternoon, I get home feeling refreshed after a nice long nap.”
The Green Commuter Program offers benefits to employees who carpool, such as occasional free parking passes, and a Guaranteed Ride Program to get you or your carpool partner home in case of an emergency.
If you are interested in carpooling but don’t know any colleagues in your neighborhood, the Green Commuter Program can help you find a match.
How it works
Complete the Carpool Interest Form to share details about your commute. The Green Commuter Program will email employees in your area to see if anyone is interested in carpooling and works a similar schedule.
During the search process, your identity and street address remain anonymous. If there are any positive matches, Green Commuter Program staff will then connect you to them via email. Then it’s up to you how you will carpool! Whether it’s everyday or occasionally, with music or conversations, you and your carpool partner will discuss what works best for you.
The Parking Office monthly carpool permits to share the cost of a permit at a reduced rate. And some carpoolers utilize ParkMobile for daily parking, offering even more flexibility on the days they commute together. If things changes, you can cancel your carpool at any time.
