Mobile device management: now available for all personal devices

(SACRAMENTO)

Effective May 20, the Mobile Device Security (MDM) solution established by the IT Cybersecurity team will be updated to include all personal devices. The Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Program is a proactive solution for staff who choose to use UC Davis Health work-related applications on their personal devices, including phones, iPad tablets, or PCs.

BYOD Program

The BYOD Program uses Workspace One’s Intelligent Hub Application to create a centralized location where staff can download specific work-related applications. These apps have the same user experience but with additional security features such as a micro-VPN. The Intelligent Hub separates work apps from personal apps and data, which helps safeguard personal data privacy.

While staff are not required to use a personal device for work, those who choose to do so must enroll their personal devices used for work purposes in the BYOD program. Staff who choose to use their own device must:

  • Register their personal devices with a UC Davis Health Mobile Device Security platform via a token they receive from the Technology Operations Center.
  • As part of the enrollment process, you will install the Workspace One Intelligent Hub Application and begin to use the available apps managed via the Hub’s Catalog.

Enrollment

To use your personal device(s) for work purposes, you will need to complete the Mobile Device Security Agreement (a VPN is needed to access this link). The enrollment process is different by device. Click here (a VPN is needed to access this link) to visit the BYOD enrollment webpage for instructions.

The BYOD program is now available for:

  • iOS
