New Bike shelter location now open

(SACRAMENTO)

The Green Commuter Program is excited to announce that a new bike shelter is now open in Parking Structure 5 (PS5). This shelter includes over 100 bike parking spaces and daily use accessory lockers.

Location

The bike shelter is in PS5, behind the Cancer Center. You can easily access the shelter from V Street. It is a short walk to the Cancer Center, Emergency Department, and Main Hospital.

The pink star on the map indicates the entrance to Parking Structure 5 Bike Shelter.

Please note that while the bike shelter is available for employee and student use, the rest of Parking Structure 5 is unavailable for employee parking.

How to Enter the Shelter

First, your bicycle or scooter must be registered. Once you have registered your bike or scooter, the Parking Office can provide access to the shelter by request.

If you already have access to the other bike shelters on campus, you likely have access to the PS5 bike shelter. Try your badge, and if you have any issues or receive a red light when scanning, contact hs-greencommuterprogram@ucdavis.edu to request access.

Park your bike with peace of mind. Like most bike shelters on campus, the shelter in Parking Structure 5 requires ID badge access to enter.

To open the gate, you will need to tap your access badge at the pillar to the right of the door. Once the light turns green you must push the ADA paddle/button to make the gate swing open. The gate will not open unless the button is pressed.

Accessory Lockers

The bike shelter is the first of its kind at UC Davis Health—offering daily-use lockers for helmet and bike accessory storage.

You will need to bring your own lock and remove it each time you use these lockers. Parking and Transportation Services will conduct regular audits to confirm proper use.

Utilizing Vertical Racks

To utilize the most space, most bike shelters on campus feature vertical bike racks. Not sure how to use a vertical bike rack? Check out this video, then practice in the new shelter!
