New QUASARS Pulse aims to strengthen quality, safety and patient care

UC Davis Health is launching the QUASARS Pulse (QUality, SAfety, Readmissions and Satisfaction), a new effort designed to strengthen the quality and safety of care across the organization.

Named after some of the most powerful and energetic objects in the universe, QUASARS reflects the focus and commitment needed to provide the highest level of care for our patients and community.

The initiative centers on three key areas:

  • Bedside care: Increasing standardization and strengthening infection-prevention practices to support safer, more consistent care.
  • Culture of safety: Introducing quality and safety moments at the start of meetings and huddles to keep safety top of mind throughout the organization.
  • Data and measurement: Reviewing quality metrics in greater detail and applying quality-assurance processes to improve the accuracy and reliability of performance data.

Additional projects will support the goals of QUASARS. The first is MARS (Medical Accuracy in the Records), which focuses on clinical documentation to ensure patients' medical records accurately reflect the complexity of their conditions and care needs.

Together, these efforts will help UC Davis Health continue to improve patient outcomes, strengthen safety and deliver the high-quality care our community expects.
