New UC Davis Health webpages offer pathways to sustainability involvement

The UC Davis Health sustainability website has long served as a hub for information, resources, and engagement opportunities, primarily focusing on activities at the Davis campus. This week’s launch of an enhanced UC Davis Health Sustainability Hub makes more prominent the offerings and achievements from the Sacramento campus, providing a comprehensive view of sustainability efforts across both campuses.
A key feature of the new page is the sustainability suggestion box, inviting staff, students, and community members to contribute ideas for enhancing environmental efficiency without compromising patient care. Whether it's identifying processes that could be more eco-friendly or suggesting alternatives to products that generate unnecessary waste, the suggestion box is a direct channel for sharing insights that could lead to impactful change.
Kristina Bair, UC Davis Health’s Sustainability Director, emphasized the importance of community input in driving sustainability initiatives: “The sustainability suggestion box is a fantastic way to tap into the innovative minds that are abundant at UC Davis Health, enabling us to make meaningful changes from people with eyes on our campus everyday. It’s exciting to see what lies ahead as we work together to advance toward a more sustainable future.”
Additionally, users can submit sustainability-related updates, photos, articles, or awards to share with the broader community, fostering a collaborative environment where successes and innovations can be celebrated.
The site also includes sections for News and Announcements, Sustainability Goals, Recognition, Contact Information, and a Sustainability Virtual Walking Tour, offering a well-rounded view of ongoing efforts and achievements.
Looking ahead, 2024 will bring the introduction of real-time data and dashboards, empowering everyone in the community to track the progress of ongoing sustainability initiatives, further enhancing transparency and engagement.
