POC Spotlight: Meet Eastern Ways Martial Arts
UC Davis Health is officially two weeks away from Principles of Community! This week, the event committee is showcasing Eastern Ways Martial Arts.
Eastern Ways is dedicated to teaching traditional martial arts in a way that is accessible to everyone. Chief instructors, Tai Sifu Hubbard, and Tai Simo Molina are personal students of Grandmaster Doc-Fai Wong, president of the Plum Blossom International Federation.
Eastern Ways Martial Arts are the leading provider of Choy Li Fut Kung Fu, Yang-style Tai Chi, kid-safe Lion Dance and Dragon Dance lessons in the Sacramento Valley. With schools in Folsom, Elk Grove, and Sacramento, they offer individualized lessons to practitioners of Tai Chi and Kung Fu at all levels, from beginner to advanced.
All are invited to come see Eastern Ways perform the traditional Chinese lion dance that is said to bring good luck and chase away evil spirits on March 3.
This event is open to all UC Davis and UC Davis Health faculty, staff, learners, and health providers. Participation is voluntary and release time for employees can be coordinated with your supervisor.
Interested in volunteering?
The event committee is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make it a welcoming, inspiring space for everyone who attends. On March 1 and March 2, volunteers will help decorate and setup the event—the behind-the-scenes work that transforms a venue into a vibrant reflection of community, creativity, and shared values.
Volunteer roles include decorating, assisting with room and table setup, and helping ensure the venue is organized and ready for guests. Flexible shifts are available, and all volunteers will receive guidance and support on site. If you’re interested in volunteering, please sign up or reach out through this link.
