Registration now open for 2025 UC Davis Health Sustainability Summit

Registration is now open for the 2025 UC Davis Health Sustainability Summit.

Attendees will gain insight from a wide range of experts and departments leading sustainability at UC Davis Health, including updates from Emergency Medicine, Radiology, Facilities Planning and the Clinical Practice Council.

The event is scheduled for 8-10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12, in the North Addition Room 1001. Registration is required and limited to UC Davis employees.

Attendees can expect to learn more about: 

• UC Davis Health’s sustainability performance within the healthcare sector and the local community, with Associate Chief Operating Officer Jita Buño
• The environmental impact of MRSA/VRE contact precautions, with UCLA infectious diseases expert Pam Lee
• The sustainability features of new construction buildings like the 48X same-day surgery center and the Folsom Medical Office Building, with Steve Chaitow, Lisa Hinton, Project Manager, and Creed Kampa, Facilities Planning Specialist

In addition, department representatives will present: 

• Reducing energy consumed in MRI and CT scanning operations, with Andrew Hernandez, Assistant Professor in Residence, Radiology, UC Davis School of Medicine
• Rolling out the UC Davis Health Climate Resiliency Tool Kit, with David Barnes, MD, FACEP, Department of Emergency Medicine, and Katren Tyler, MD, FACEP, Health Sciences Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine
• Implementing a Master Plan to Reduce Turf, with Steve Chaitow, Campus Planner, and Erik Skall, Grounds Supervisor, Plant Operations and Maintenance
• Impacting Change and Driving Sustainability through the Clinical Practice Council Sub-Committee, with Eric Tyrell, RN, BSN
