Stronger support for AFSCME employees includes wage increases and lower health care costs

(SACRAMENTO)

In a step forward for thousands of frontline employees, the University of California is implementing wage increases and healthcare premium credits for employees represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). The action follows nearly 16 months of negotiations and is intended to provide immediate financial relief and clarity on key employment terms.

At UC Davis and UC Davis Health, new systemwide changes will bring meaningful wage increases and healthcare savings for AFSCME-represented employees. The changes also include enhanced sick leave usage rules and new protections for per diem employees, and increased wages and health insurance credits.

UC Davis is going a step further by offering even lower health care costs than other UC locations. Employees will see greater savings on the UC Blue & Gold HMO plan – with some tiers offered at no cost.

These updates reflect UC’s commitment to supporting the AFSCME-represented workforce and recognize the vital role these employees play across the UC system.

Other UC union members will continue receiving their scheduled increases as outlined in their contracts, ensuring ongoing support and recognition across the workforce.
