UC Davis Health named a Greatest Workplace for Diversity by Newsweek
For the second consecutive year, Newsweek has identified UC Davis Health as a Greatest Workplace for Diversity in 2025.
UC Davis Health received the highest possible rating, five stars, based on an independent evaluation that included analysis of publicly available data, interviews with HR professionals and an anonymous online survey of more than 339,000 individuals.

Transparency and communication are central to UC Davis' commitment to continuous improvement, and the CommUNITY Feedback Survey has been particularly instrumental in amplifying employees' voices. The ‘You Said, Together We Did’ campaign features stories about progress made in response to this survey and other feedback from staff.
Local hiring and workforce development
- Efforts from the Office for Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and Talent Acquisition have resulted in an increase from 18.5% local hiring in FY23 to our FY24 goal of 20%. Among these efforts are advancements in equitable talent acquisition practices.
- Collaborations with over 65 local outreach events and partnerships with the City of Sacramento continue to create pathways for under-resourced communities.
- The Community of Learning program empowers participants with skills and tools to implement equitable hiring practices aligned with our Aggie Square, HR, and Anchor Institution Mission (AIM) goals. Its mission and purpose focus on fostering diversity, local hiring, and health equity to uplift local communities.

Building community
Capital projects, such as the California Tower, have been leveraged for community economic development, with a total of $100 million allocated to Sacramento County local, small, and diverse businesses.
- Our Principles of Community statement embodies our shared commitment to dignity, respect, and the celebration of diverse perspectives and identities. Its upcoming 35th anniversary celebration week is an opportunity to honor these principles and their impact on the community.
- Our Employee Resource Groups continue to play a pivotal role in advising campus leadership, advocating for inclusivity, and establishing support networks for underrepresented communities.
- The Race Matters program was created in 2019 to assist leaders in supporting and engaging with their staff on matters of race. Since its launch, it has offered training, events, resources, workshops, challenges, and more.
