Volunteers needed: Keep the Chair Share Program running

(SACRAMENTO)

Have you seen those amazing red Adirondack-style lawn chairs sitting out on Vanderhoof Commons? Did you know they're part of a program called Chair Share?

Chair Share began on the UC Davis Campus before being expanded to Sacramento by the Healthy UC Davis team. The program encourages people to spend more time outdoors, supporting research that shows even brief time outside can reduce stress, improve mood and support overall well-being.

This program is currently run through volunteers, but you know what it could use more of currently? Volunteers.

What’s involved in volunteering for Chair Share?

Volunteers place the chairs and lawn signs out on the Vanderhoof Lawn, and/or collect them and return them to the Betty Irene Moore Hall, where they are stored. There is a wheeled cart that is used to move the chairs. The chairs are put out around 9 a.m. and taken back in around 3 p.m., depending on volunteer availability.

Currently, the Chair Share Program does not have enough volunteers to make the chairs available. Maybe YOU could help!

Reach out to stjanus@health.ucdavis.edu to get more information and sign up as a Chair Share volunteer.

Please be kind to our volunteers

Chair Share volunteers donate their time to make the chairs available for everyone to enjoy. On some days, chairs may need to be put away earlier than usual due to scheduling constraints. In other cases, they may only be available through mid-day.

These changes are based solely on volunteer availability. We appreciate your understanding, and your kindness toward the volunteers who make this program possible.
