WorkStrong Program: What is it about and could it be for me?

(SACRAMENTO)

If you have been injured at work, you may be eligible for the UC WorkStrong program.

The WorkStrong program is a University of California systemwide program developed with the expertise and collaborative support of UC staff in wellness programs, occupational health, and workers’ compensation. It is designed to help you improve your overall health and fitness level, improve your recovery, and prevent future workplace injuries. All locations offer the core services of WorkStrong, which include a 6-month gym membership, exercise guidance and nutrition counseling. Each UC location has its own unique program to suit the needs of the employees.

Here at UC Davis Health, we offer the following:

  • A six-month gym membership at the UC Davis Health Fitness Center
  • Private sessions with a Certified Personal Trainer
  • Private sessions with a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist
  • Wellness 360° Workshop

We work directly with your workers’ compensation medical provider to design a safe and effective program just for you.

  • There is no cost to employees to participate
  • In person and virtual sessions from home are available
  • Flexible scheduling to fit busy lifestyles
  • Participate outside of work hours

Talk to your workers’ compensation medical provider today to see if you are eligible for the program. For more information, contact the WorkStrong Coordinator at 916-734-6128 or visit this website.

“The WorkStrong program is a unique opportunity for injured workers to enhance their recovery and to invest in their overall health and wellness through a comprehensive approach with skilled professionals and at no cost," said Enass Awad Arahman, medical director of Employee Health Services. "As an occupational medicine physician, I am thrilled to offer such a program to my patients as I believe that prevention is always better than cure and hope they will find it to be an added tool for ensuring a longer term and sustainable recovery following their injuries.”
