Philosophy of Care

Dr. Hight strives to treat all her patients as well as she would want her own family members treated, and helps to foster this same focus in her surgical teams. She has a particular interest in helping people develop their highest potential.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Hight is a board-certified trauma/critical care and general surgeon. She has over 15 years of clinical and leadership experience with the United States Air Force in various roles spanning the globe in a variety of settings, including two deployments to Afghanistan, in a nearly 30-year career. Dr. Hight arrived at UC Davis in 2010 while concurrently serving in the USAF at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, CA and retired in 2019 in the rank of Colonel. Dr. Hight is the UC Davis military-civilian partnership liaison and is the focal point for helping the two health systems leverage the high-volume, high-acuity clinical experience at UC Davis to optimize the Department of Defense's military medical readiness platform through exposure to currency cases with individual and team-based solutions.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Hight has a passion for trauma skills and pre-hospital medical training, surgical education and communication, emergency hemorrhage control techniques, and disaster preparedness. Her favorite teaching environment is with small groups in a hands' on learning experience.
