For Patients: Specialty Care

Requesting a referral from your primary care physician

If you already have a primary care physician and feel that you need specialty care for a specific medical problem, your primary care physician can refer you to the appropriate specialist.

Most UC Davis Health medical specialists do require a referral from either a primary care physician or another specialist, either in the community or at UC Davis Health.

For Referring Physicians: Specialty Care

Referring physicians and their patients have access to a comprehensive array of clinical services and educational resources, delivered by exceptional providers and grounded in the latest medical knowledge and research.

We also provide a physician referral liaison team who makes it easier for referring physicians to send their patients to us. The team helps expedite the referral process, obtain follow-up information, resolve any issues related to patient referrals, and more.
