Directions and Parking

We want to help make it easier for you to get to the medical center, park your car, and find your way around the hospital campus. Check out directions, parking and wayfinding information below.

Parking Locations, Rates and Services

Main parking and entrances for UC Davis Medical Center are off X Street.

Construction may cause changes at any time, so please follow street signs.

Medical Center General Parking

The hospital’s main parking is Parking Structure 3 off X Street.

An electronic system shows how many spaces are available.

  • Each space has a green (open) or red (occupied) light to show if the space is available.
  • Blue lights show spaces for people with disabilities.

Parking Structure 1 off Colonial Way is closed to patients and visitors.

Emergency Department Parking

The entrance and patient drop-off area for UC Davis Medical Center’s Emergency Department are moving.

As of Monday, July 15, 2024, the new patient drop-off area for the Emergency Department is right in front of the hospital, next to the hospital’s main entrance off of X Street.

  • From X Street, you will enter the circle driveway at the front of the hospital.
  • Free valet parking services will be available there to help park your car when you arrive.
  • UC Davis Health staff will also be available to help you and provide guidance.
  • The valet services will park patient vehicles in UC Davis Medical Center’s Parking Structure 3.
  • The place where you used to enter the Emergency Department will be closed. No entry will be available on that side of the hospital, due to construction of the hospital’s new California Tower.

UC Davis Health offers free valet parking for emergency department patients (only) for the entire length of their stay, as long as they get their parking validated. Validation will also be offered for emergency department patients who choose to self-park in another campus lot.

Cypress Building Parking

The Cypress Building lots remain open. These are short-term lots (up to 4 hours maximum). You can pay at a machine, or by using a downloadable smartphone app.

Cypress Lot 1 has a larger amount of disabled parking spaces. Cypress Lot 8 has a limited amount of disabled parking spaces.

Shuttles and Drop-offs

Brief patient drop-offs and pick-ups are usually allowed in the main hospital entrance driveway, where signs say it is OK.

Please be careful and respectful of pedestrians. Please do not block traffic or leave your vehicle unattended. Please do not block entries or exits for emergency vehicles.

Patients who require a wheelchair or other mobility assistance can request help at the front entrance. Or call 916-703-4309 to contact a patient transport dispatcher.

UC Davis Health’s MedTrans (On-Site) Shuttle service offers convenient transportation within the UC Davis Medical Center campus. Routes connect the hospital with various buildings, parking lots, and other locations within the Medical Center area, including public transportation. There is no charge for trips around the UC Davis Medical Center campus.
