Dr. Jarman believes that the difference between good and excellent care lies in communication. We are all well trained in clinical medicine but the ability to gain a patient's trust quickly and communicate effectively and empathetically is a traditionally undervalued skill in medicine. I strive to see patients in their entirety, not simply their medical problems.
She is an LGBT-friendly provider that has also published on caring for gender non-conforming patients.
Dr. Jarman is an emergency medicine physician who treats patients at both the pediatric and adult emergency departments at UC Davis and the VA Hospital in Mather.
She is fellowship-trained in sex & gender in emergency medicine and studies sex differences in the acute presentations of disease.
Dr. Jarman is also interested in underrepresented minorities and women in medicine, global emergency care, and palliative care.
Dr. Jarman's research interest centers on the roles of biological sex and gender identity in acute care medicine. Specifically, Dr. Jarman studies sex differences in venous thromboembolism. She is also engaged in health equity researched, aimed at mitigating modifiable health disparities for minoritized populations.
