When you become a volunteer at the UC Davis MIND Institute, you join a team of caring professionals whose mission is to improve the health of the people in the community they serve. The MIND Institute’s volunteer team is comprised of men and women from diverse backgrounds, high school, and college students, retirees, transitioning adults, and working professionals.

Several areas within the MIND Institute welcome volunteers. General responsibilities and area requirements may vary.

Child Life ProgramChild Life Volunteers

Volunteers work with the MIND Institute's Child Life Specialists. Primary duties include providing play activities and supervising children who visit the research clinic and Massie Family evaluation clinic.  Other volunteer duties may include maintaining the play and common areas; cleaning toys; preparing for and staffing special events; performing administrative tasks; and assisting other departments with special projects. Volunteers may also gain educational experience by observing children in research or evaluation settings.

There is a minimum 4 month commitment and volunteers should be available 4-6 hours a week.  Summer-only volunteer opportunities are unavailable.
