Infants and young children are more vulnerable than adults to the effects of environmental hazards because their bodies are still growing and developing. Scientists are still trying to understand exactly how certain aspects of the environment can put children's health and development at risk. Resources are available for parents and other caregivers to help reduce children's exposure to potentially harmful aspects of their environment.
