Easter basket donations needed for hospitalized children

(SACRAMENTO)

The public is invited to make Easter special for patients at UC Davis Children’s Hospital by donating goodies to include in their Easter baskets.

Basket on a windowsill is filled with a white stuffed rabbit, containers of slime, plastic eggs and a small stuffed chick.

The UC Davis Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department is accepting donations for Easter basket supplies through its dedicated Amazon wish list. Items requested range in price from $3 baby rattles to $30 ear buds. The gifts ordered online can be shipped directly sent to the Children’s Hospital, as noted on the Amazon checkout page.

Items purchased through the Amazon wish list must be received at the hospital by March 26.

The hospital staff will receive the gifts and use them to create personalized baskets that match the needs, interests and ages of children receiving care.

“We hope we can bring some cheer and a sense of normalcy to our patients and their families who will be spending Easter in the hospital this year. We would love to provide them with the tradition of Easter baskets,” said Katie Macdonald, programming supervisor in the UC Davis Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department.

Due to hospital infection control policies, members of the public cannot personally deliver basket donations to pediatric patients. Donors who prefer to personally drop off items at the hospital can email katmacdonald@ucdavis.edu to make delivery arrangements.
