Every member of UC Davis Health is responsible for building a culture of compliance. To safeguard public trust, the specific goals of the Compliance Department are to ensure that members of the UC Davis Health community:
- Understand relevant compliance standards
- Have the necessary tools to achieve these standards
- Feel supported and empowered to ask questions and resolve concerns
To achieve these goals, the Office of Healthcare Compliance and Privacy's Program is designed based on these seven fundamental elements of an effective compliance program:
- Implementing written policies, procedures, and standards of conduct
- Designating a compliance officer and compliance committee
- Conducting effective training and education
- Developing effective lines of communication
- Conducting internal monitoring and auditing
- Enforcing standards through well-publicized disciplinary guidelines
- Responding promptly to detected offenses and undertaking corrective action
Our office aims to promote compliance by providing workforce members with relevant education, timely responses to compliance and privacy issues, and establishing and maintaining effective lines of communication for good faith reporting of compliance concerns.
