No single department or person is responsible for building a culture of compliance, but rather it is the responsibility of every member of the UC Davis Health community. To assist our UC Davis Health workforce with this responsibility, the UC Davis Health General Compliance program provides monitoring and training on various University policies and government regulations. The department also responds to inquiries concerning University policies and regulatory areas, including, vendor relations, conflict-of-interest, and conflict-of-commitment. An effective compliance program is a critical step in preventing instances of non-compliance, but it also increases the likelihood of identifying and correcting instances of non-compliance.
The General Compliance Program is responsible for monitoring the University’s mandatory annual training to ensure staffs’ understanding and knowledge of policy and regulations that govern UC Davis Health. The General Compliance program also oversees the Exclusion Monitoring Program, which screens all UC Davis Health employees, vendors, volunteers, students and referring providers upon hire and/or retention and monthly thereafter against state and federal exclusion lists. UC Davis Health cannot hire or employee individuals that are excluded from participation in federal healthcare programs.
