This course is designed to enhance nurses’ clinical knowledge and interdisciplinary communication skills in the care of the antepartum patient. Key topics include effective team communication during antepartum surveillance, early identification and intervention for preterm labor (PTL), and understanding the maternal-fetal impact of conditions such as preeclampsia and pregnancy-related trauma. Nurses will review pathophysiology, risk factors, and time-sensitive responses for high-risk antepartum scenarios, including third-trimester bleeding and MgSO₄ toxicity.
Participants will also explore physiologic changes in pregnancy that impact trauma response and bleeding risk. The course concludes with a case-based review of key concepts and lessons learned, reinforcing clinical judgment and readiness through real-world examples and practical application.
