CPR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Students practicing CPR

CPR training is required of many health-care professionals and lay rescuers to help revive, resuscitate, or sustain a person who is experiencing cardiac arrest or respiratory failure. The course curriculum follows guidelines based on current research, resuscitative science journals and papers, and the current American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines for CPR and emergency cardiovascular care. This class meets Joint Commission requirements for UC Davis Health staff.

This is a blended learning course that consists of an online module and in-person skills check. This class is only open to UC Davis Health employees.

Part 1: Online Module

Before the CPR skills check, participants must complete an online module, including watching a video, reviewing content, and completing an exam. The course is specifically for healthcare providers who provide direct patient care.

Part 2: CPR Skills Check

When the online module is complete, staff will attend an in-person CPR Skills Check. Staff must demonstrate CPR skills without coaching according to the CPR guidelines.

Participants must bring verification of completion for the CPR Online Module to the skills check session. Participants may bring their UC Learning Center training transcript as proof or show their training transcript using the SumTotal Mobile app.

UC Davis Health certificates of completion will be issued to participants who pass the written evaluation and correctly demonstrate skills on the mannequins. You should take an AHA Healthcare Provider course if you need an AHA CPR card.
