End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) Adult Critical Care

This course was developed for nurses who work in intensive care, coronary care, burn and dialysis units, emergency departments, and other clinical areas encompassing critical care for the adult population.

Nurses spend more time with patients who are facing the end of life than any other member of the health care team. Yet studies have shown that many nurses feel inadequately prepared to provide the comprehensive care so important at the end of life. This course will include lecture, case studies and interactivity covering pain and symptom management, ethical issues in palliative care nursing, culturally/spiritual aspects, communication, loss, grief, and bereavement, care at the final hours, and self-care techniques.

Continuing Education Contact Hours

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 26, for 18.75 contact hours. 

UC Davis Health - Center for Professional Practice of Nursing is accredited with distinction as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Attendees must attend all three days to receive C.E. credit. Attendees will not receive C.E. credit if they are more than 20 minutes late; no partial credit can be awarded.
