Bryn Mumma selected to national leadership fellowship

Bryn Mumma, professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine, has been selected as a Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) 2026-2027 fellow. ELAM is a prestigious, nationally recognized leadership development program for faculty in the health professions that prepares participants for senior leadership roles in schools of medicine, public health, dentistry and pharmacy.
Bryn Mumma, professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine, has been selected as a Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine fellow.
Mumma is the director of the UC Davis Women in Medicine and Health Sciences program. As director, she has advanced the program’s goals, culture and visual identity, and delivered programming that drew record engagement from faculty and leaders across UC Davis Health.
“I am deeply honored to be selected for ELAM,” said Mumma. “I am excited to learn alongside outstanding leaders from across the country and bring fresh perspectives and new skills back to UC Davis to support our faculty and advance our academic mission.”
Mumma is also an elected member of the board of directors for the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM), where she helps guide strategy, partnerships and policy and provides oversight of a substantial organizational budget. She previously served on the SAEM Foundation Board of Trustees and has been appointed to American Heart Association guideline writing groups, ensuring that perspectives from emergency medicine inform standards of cardiovascular care.
"Dr. Mumma has distinguished herself through her leadership, service and commitment to advancing excellence in academic medicine,” said School of Medicine Dean Susan Murin. “Her selection as an ELAM fellow is a national recognition of her contributions and her commitment to continue to grow as an impactful leader."
Mumma is among a distinguished group of leaders from the School of Medicine who have been chosen to participate in ELAM’s highly competitive leadership fellowships over the last several years. Acceptance into ELAM is determined through a competitive selection process, in which approximately 100 candidates are chosen each year.
ELAM also includes the Executive Leadership in Healthcare (ELH) program track. ELH focuses on rising individuals with administrative experience in personnel and budget management who are established experts in their domain.
ELAM is a year-long part-time fellowship for faculty in schools of medicine, dentistry, public health and pharmacy. The prestigious program is dedicated to developing the professional and personal skills required to lead and manage in today's complex healthcare environment through an intensive curriculum that includes leadership training, extensive coaching, networking and mentoring opportunities. Nearly 1,800 ELAM alumni hold leadership positions in institutions around the world.
