Chad Hatfield: One of ‘75 hospital and health system chief pharmacy officers to know’

Chad Hatfield of UC Davis Health was selected as one of Becker’s Hospital Review’s ‘75 hospital and health system chief pharmacy officers to know’ in 2025 among hospitals and health systems nationwide.
Becker’s noted, “These influential leaders oversee medication management and drug supply across their organizations, playing a critical role in ensuring safe and effective patient care. From shaping cost-conscious pharmacy strategies to driving innovation through automation, technology and policy development, chief pharmacy officers are also mentoring and empowering the next generation of pharmacy professionals.”

Hatfield, as vice president and chief pharmacy officer for UC Davis Health, oversees 13 pharmacies, acute and ambulatory clinical services, 39 pharmacy residents and 500 support staff. He stepped into the chief pharmacy officer role in August 2018, along with his concurrent role as assistant dean of the UCSF School of Pharmacy in San Francisco.
Hatfield is board-certified in pharmacotherapy and has served in formal leadership roles at UC Davis Health since 2009.
