Honoring 25 years of service: Longtime employees celebrate milestone with executive leaders

(SACRAMENTO)

On Wednesday, Oct. 22, the university gathered to honor nearly 400 faculty and staff members from UC Davis and UC Davis Health who reached an extraordinary milestone: 25 years of service. It was more than a celebration of time – it was a moment to recognize the people whose steady leadership, curiosity and compassion have shaped UC Davis across generations.

The UC Davis Alumni Center was reimagined as a vibrant Hawaiian oasis, offering a joyful backdrop for a community that has weathered challenges, advanced discovery and expanded opportunity together. The evening marked each honoree’s induction into the Quarter Century Club, a tradition now more than 80 years strong. What began as a simple gesture of gratitude has become a defining UC Davis ritual, honoring those whose long-term commitment has made the university a place where people and ideas can thrive.

This year’s honorees represented the full breadth of the university’s mission – clinicians who have built trusted patient relationships over decades; researchers whose perseverance has pushed the boundaries of knowledge; educators who have shaped thousands of learners; facilities professionals and administrative leaders whose behind-the-scenes work keeps our campuses moving forward every day. Their stories are distinct, yet together they form a shared legacy of progress and care that consistently elevates UC Davis.

The Hawaiian theme, tropical décor and island-inspired refreshments set the tone for a laid-back reception centered on connection. Guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, drinks and the rare chance to pause, reflect and reunite with colleagues who have been part of their journeys.

Leaders from across the university – including Mike Condrin, Kimberly Bleichner-Jones, Christine Williams, Jennifer Doll, Dr. Bruce Hall and Binnie Singh – attended the event and connected with honorees throughout the evening.

Chancellor Gary S. May and Vice Chancellor Clare Shinnerl shared heartfelt reflections on the impact of long-serving staff and faculty, underscoring how deeply their contributions are woven into the university’s identity. “For 25 years, you have poured your energy and ideas into making UC Davis an even better place to work, learn and receive care. I’m grateful for your service and proud of your contributions to our campuses, our community and the lives of those we serve,” Chancellor May said.

The event was organized by the Human Resources Well-being and Recognition team and supported by the UC Davis Retirees Association, Fidelity and University Credit Union, whose partnership helped bring the celebration to life.
