Pulitzer Prize-Winning Author Isabel Wilkerson to speak at UC Davis Health
We are honored to announce that Isabel Wilkerson, acclaimed author of Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents and The Warmth of Other Suns, will be joining us in person at UC Davis Health as the featured speaker for our Addressing Bias, Bigotry, and Discrimination at UC Davis Speaker Series on Thursday, June 12, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Sacramento.
This special event will also be livestreamed via Zoom to ensure broader access for our campus and community audiences.

As the first African American woman to win a Pulitzer Prize in journalism and one of the most influential voices in contemporary social thought, Wilkerson brings powerful insight into the historical and systemic structures that shape our world today. Her groundbreaking work explores the American experience through the lens of race, caste, and resilience—topics that deeply resonate with our mission and values at UC Davis Health.
Her talk is part of the Internal Medicine Grand Rounds speaker series funded through a grant to address and combat antisemitism, Islamophobia, and other forms of bias, bigotry, and discrimination, inviting national thought leaders to engage our community in conversations around health equity, belonging, and the human experience.
Please mark your calendars for this incredible opportunity to hear from one of today’s most important voices in equity and justice. During registration, more details, including the location and Zoom link, will be shared.
Let’s continue the work of building a more inclusive and informed UC Davis Health—together.
About the Addressing Bias, Bigotry, and Discrimination at UC Davis Speaker Series: Heightened tensions stemming from the conflict in the Middle East have led to hate crimes and discriminatory incidents on campuses nationwide. Compounding these tragic events are the political climate and the resultant silencing of discourse. This has impacted our faculty, staff, and students, who need to collectively process these events. This Grand Rounds series, hosted by the Department of Internal Medicine, hopes to establish a safe forum where perspectives can be expressed and shared with the thoughtful exchange of ideas. Nationally renowned experts and speakers in their respective fields have been invited to deliver this series. This Grand Rounds speaker series is funded through a grant that was awarded to the Department of Internal Medicine to address and combat antisemitism, Islamophobia, and other forms of bias, bigotry, and discrimination.
