Status of Women advisory committee seeking more members from UC Davis Health

Join the Status of Women at Davis Administrative Advisory Committee at annual summit, April 11

(SACRAMENTO)

The Status of Women at Davis Administrative Advisory Committee (SWADAAC) was formed in spring 2008 as an outgrowth of the Creating Change Initiative coordinated by Linda Williams, former UC Office of the President associate president, and Amy Levine, director of the Center for Gender Equity at UC San Francisco. They gathered data from ten campuses, plus the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the Office of the President (UCOP), which led to their recommendation that a committee on the status of women be formed at each campus location.

Calling new members

Call for membership applications goes out in the spring. UC Davis Health faculty and staff are encouraged to apply. Visit the SWADDAC website for more details.

Cheryl Pater, training and safety specialist at UC Davis, and long-standing SWADAAC member, shared their thoughts about being actively involved in the advisory committee.

Pater said, “I joined SWADAAC nine years ago to make a difference in how women were treated at the Davis and Sacramento campuses. Having a say in pay equity, childcare, diversity and equality has been incredibly meaningful. I have treasured every minute of this experience so far and made some new friends, too.”
