Whether you're picking up fresh produce at the now-weekly Mobile Farmer's Market, de-stressing with therapy dogs at Puppies & Popsicles or making new connections at community events, there's something for everyone at Aggie Square this August.
All events are open to UC Davis Health employees and community members.
Take a midday reset with a gentle yoga session on Aggie Square. Carrie Waterman will guide light stretching, breathwork, a soft flow and restorative yin. Drop in anytime and stay for as long as you’d like.
Now through November, the Center for Land-Based Learning’s Mobile Farmer’s Market will be at Aggie Square every Wednesday. The mobile farmer’s market truck brings fresh, locally grown produce directly to our community, making it easier to access healthy food while supporting regional farmers.
Each week also features a mix of local food pop-ups and music.

MIX is a monthly gathering where startups, policymakers, researchers, creatives and community leaders come together around a rotating theme through lightning talks, small-group conversations and informal networking. There's a moment inside every system built to help people like a clinic, a classroom, a food pantry or a company where the design either restores someone's dignity or quietly takes it away. Most of the time, no one intended the second outcome. It's just what happens when a system gets built around efficiency instead of the person standing in it.
This month, MIX is looking through the lens of the new Community Food Hub in Rancho Cordova. Under the leadership of Executive Director Carrie Johnson, the team asked: what if receiving help didn't have to feel transactional or rushed? The answer became a 6,600-square-foot space designed to feel less like a pantry and more like a neighborhood market where families shop, choose and belong.
Johnson joins others from across health care, civic leadership and research to widen the lens beyond food and explore what it looks like to build systems and spaces that treat the people with dignity, not just efficiency.
The event features lightning talks from people rethinking access and dignity in their own fields, followed by small-group conversations.
SPARK – Supporting Partnerships and Research Knowledge
A monthly, one-hour, informal gathering for faculty, research staff and research administrators. Connect with colleagues over coffee, tea and cookies while building relationships across the research community. Hosted by the Research Administration Unit of the School of Medicine Office of Research.
