Philosophy of Care

Every patient comes with a unique background and set of experiences, I see my role as a physician in endocrinology and diabetes as a guide to filter and educate on evidence-based medical treatment. Each person is unique and serves the most important role in their health care journey. Like any relationship the physician-patient relationship works best with trust, as a physician, I certainly do not know everything, but I am willing to be a lifelong student, learn and grow from my experience and do my best to promote health in each patient to the best of my ability.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Plante is currently serving as the Medical Director of the Inpatient Glycemic Team and Professor of Internal Medicine with close to 20 years of inpatient and outpatient endocrinology and diabetes experience. Her current role includes system improvement, aligning the medical center with American Diabetes Association Standards of Care and best practice to improve glycemic benchmarks. She has extensive experience in diabetes technology, including insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors using pattern recognition to improve time in range. In addition, her expertise includes following current guidelines in the use of antidiabetic agents to reduce cardiovascular outcomes, preventing worsening diabetes-related kidney disease while meeting patient-centered targets with a low risk of hypoglycemia. While her specialty is diabetes she is well versed in other endocrine related disorders including polycystic ovarian syndrome, thyroid and menopause.
