Dr. Appasamy believes in providing compassionate individualized patient care and shared-decision making. He educates patients by providing detailed explanation of their health condition and treatment options. He believes that understanding the disease process empowers patients to participate in decisions regarding their health.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Appasamy is a general adult nephrologist and an interventional nephrologist. He treats adults with kidney diseases including chronic kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte abnormalities as well as patients on dialysis. As a certified interventional nephrologist he performs procedures such as placement and removal of dialysis catheters, maintenance of dialysis fistulas and grafts by minimally invasive endovascular techniques.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Appasamy's research and educational interests lies in vascular access for hemodialysis with focus on improving patency, longevity and prevention of complications. He is also involved in the clinical education of medical students, residents and fellow.
