I greatly enjoy practicing gastroenterology as it is a complex speciality with a variety of illnesses and in particular, plays a pivotal role in the prevention of colon cancer. Compassion, empathy and communication are the cornerstones of patient care. With these in mind, I am able to provide exceptional care to my patients grounded in evidence based medicine.
Dr. Tivakaran is a gastroenterologist with more than three decades of extensive clinical experience in the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology. After 20 years in private practice, he spent 10+ years at Kaiser Permanente. Upon retiring from Kaiser Permanente, he joined the department of Gastroeterology at UC Davis.
Dr. Tivakaran’s clinical interests include management of general gastroenterology conditions with a special focus on colon cancer prevention & Inflammatory bowel disease. At the present time, his main role is that of a proceduralist (performing colonoscopies and upper endoscopies).
