Dress Code Policy
PURPOSE
To outline expectations for a professional attire for medical students during clinical learning activities

POLICY
Students must convey professionalism with their attire. For all real or simulated clinical learning activities (e.g., those involving patients or standardized patients), all students must maintain an appearance that demonstrates respect and meets professional standards, including but not limited to the following:
- An official photo identification badge must be worn at all times with the name and picture easily visible.
- The School-issued white coat must be clean.
- Only facility provided scrubs may be worn on clerkships where they are allowed, and scrubs should be clean.
- No aspects of professional attire should interfere with the performance of patient care and personal safety.
PROCEDURE
- Anyone becoming aware of a possible violation of this policy should report the matter for investigation.
- Potential violation by students should be reported to the Associate Dean for Students; if confirmed, this could lead to counseling and disciplinary action by the Committee on Student Promotions.
