A Message From Our Interim Chief Executive Officer

We’re glad you’re interested in UC Davis Medical Center. We provide high-quality, person-centered care as our priority every day, for every patient. I am proud of our consistently strong performance in this regard, year after year.

UC Davis Medical Center earned multiple rankings in the latest U.S. News and World Report Best Hospitals survey for 2026-27. Some of the highlights:

The Medical Center was ranked in six adult specialty care areas by U.S. News. Among these, neurology & neurosurgery (No. 20) was ranked among the top 20 programs in the country, while geriatrics (No. 28) and pulmonology & lung surgery (No. 34) both ranked among the nation’s top 50 specialties. UC Davis was also recognized for excellent patient care outcomes in three regional rankings, including cancer, orthopaedics, and cardiology and heart & vascular surgery.

And we were again recognized as the No. 1 hospital in the Sacramento area, and among the top 10 in California.

U.S. News also rates the performance of hospitals in many types of individual common procedures and conditions. UC Davis Medical Center ranked high-performing (the highest rating possible in this part of the rankings) in 15 common adult procedures and conditions: COPD; colon cancer surgery; diabetes; ENT surgery; gynecological cancer surgery; heart arrhythmia; heart attack; heart failure; hip fracture; hip replacement; kidney failure (acute); leukemia, lymphoma & myeloma; lung cancer surgery; pneumonia; and stroke.

In pediatric care, U.S. News included UC Davis Children’s Hospital among the nation’s top children’s hospitals in three pediatric specialties in its most recent (2025-26) rankings, including nephrology, pulmonology and lung surgery, and — together with partner Shriners Children’s Northern California — orthopedics.

UC Davis Medical Center has also earned the nation’s highest form of recognition for nursing excellence: Magnet® recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Less than 10 percent of U.S. hospitals typically achieve this designation from the world’s largest and most prominent nurse credentialing organization.

Along with patient safety and quality care, equity and inclusion are top priorities at UC Davis. An example: for a decade, UC Davis Medical Center has been recognized as a LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leader in the Healthcare Quality Index, an annual survey conducted by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the educational arm of the country’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBTQ) civil rights organization.

We’re honored to be nationally recognized for our commitment to a welcoming and inclusive environment for our patients, their families and our employees. The excellence and compassion of everyone who cares for our patients is reflected in each of these recognitions.

Thank you for seeking our expertise for your health needs — we value the confidence and trust you have placed in us!

May good health be yours,

Michael Condrin
