We manage all School of Medicine research space assessments, allocations, and recommendations.

Research Space Oversight

The Research Space Oversight team, under the School of Medicine Office of Research, provides support to the Vice Dean of Research for all School of Medicine research space. The team carries out all School of Medicine research space assessments and allocations and provides recommendations. The team provides support to the School of Medicine Research Space Advisory Committee and is a key collaborator with various UC Davis and UC Davis Health infrastructure-related units on behalf of the School of Medicine leadership. The unit also collaborates with other UC Davis Schools and Colleges and units, such as:

The dean of the School of Medicine allocates research space to departments using the Research Space Policy. The sub-allocation of space to individual faculty or for shared use is at the discretion of the department chair and/or unit director.

    The UC Davis School of Medicine leadership has developed research space policy and guidelines to facilitate the transparent allocation of research space while helping to support the research success of School of Medicine investigators.

    Research Space Advisory Committee

    The School of Medicine Research Space Advisory Committee (School of Medicine-RSAC) provides general guidance and recommendations from the faculty perspective to the Vice Dean for Research relating to the most effective use of existing research space, new research space, and future developments.  The Vice Dean for Research shall appoint up to twelve (12) committee members. Appointees will cover the broad spectrum of faculty, representing a balance among disciplines, types of research, seniority, and both campuses. Terms are two academic years and can be extended up to four years (i.e., two terms) with the approval of the Vice Dean for Research.  Please email RSAC@ucdavis.edu if you are interested in joining.
