Hoping to spread joy and cheer, the CARE Project hosted a Winter Celebration in the UC Davis Medical Center pavilion lobby for patients, staff and visitors.

Music was performed by UC Davis Health registered nurses Eric Brickson, Dan Warschauer and resident Christine Xu on the grand piano. Each played festive holiday music as well as some classic pop songs.

The Winter Celebration concert also featured professional pianist Stevie Mello and singer/songwriter Ruby Jaye.

“The care of our patients is at the center of everything we do, and it doesn’t stop for the holidays,” said Katie Lorain, Creative Arts and Recreation Therapy manager at UC Davis Health. “For the patients and hardworking hospital staff who have to be away from loved ones for the holidays, the sounds of classic holiday songs and heartfelt greetings bring the warmth of the season into the hospital.”

The CARE Project also provided complimentary greeting cards, hot chocolate and sweet treats for those who attended.

“Nothing stirs up feelings of joy quite like music. It’s important that everyone who must spend time in the hospital, whether they are being cared for or are responsible for the care of others, be able to find moments to celebrate,” added Lorain.
