Facilities and Rotation

Residents benefit from a state-of-the-art MIND Institute and UC Davis Medical Center operating in the academic environment of a nationally recognized university. Rotations include the Clinical Molecular Laboratory at UC Davis and the ARUP Laboratories in Salt Lake City, Utah.

CURRICULUM & RESEARCH

Preparing Future Medical Geneticists

Besides laboratory rotations, medical genetics and genomic residents will rotate through a number of clinics at the MIND Institute and well as have inpatient experiences at the UC Davis Children’s Hospital to gain medical knowledge and insight in general principles of general genetics and biochemical genetics. The curriculum also includes weekly genomic medicine clinical rounds, a monthly human genomics seminar series and the annual human genomics symposium.

Residency Mission Statement

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide highly motivated physicians with a broad exposure to clinical, laboratory, and research experiences to prepare them to become effective, independent medical geneticists who deliver an excellent standard of clinical genetic services and undertake research investigations to improve the understanding and management of genetic diseases.

Aims

The program will train residents to be:

  • Outstanding clinical geneticists able to care for patients and families with complex conditions with compassion.
  • Skilled researchers who will contribute to discovery in the field of medical genetics and genomics.
  • Inter-professional team members and physician leaders within their community.
  • Providers of culturally sensitive care for a diverse population.
