Practice Philosophy:
I am a leader in the UC Davis Specialty Pharmacy. My goal is to develop, implement, and manage specialty pharmacy service lines. Ensure the financial integrity of these service lines. I also develop and utilize data analytics to identify and track financial opportunities, measure productivity and measure clinical outcomes.

Bio:
Dr. David Mitchell is a certified specialty pharmacist and has practiced in the field of specialty pharmacy for over ten years. He was promoted to Sr. Pharmacist Manager in 2015 and continue to be the Manger of UC Davis Specialty Pharmacy Operations. He leads the strategic and financial planning of the specialty pharmacy, oversees operations and leads URAC Specialty Pharmacy accreditation efforts as the chair of the UCDH Specialty Pharmacy P&T Subcommittee. Dr. Mitchell began his pharmacy career in pharmacy at Rite Aid in 2000 where he implemented numerous pharmacy-based diabetes and immunization clinics, managed numerous pharmacies and served as a Pharmacy District Manager. He joined UCDH in 2008 where he managed the Placer Center for Health Pharmacy, The One Community Health Pharmacy, The Pavilion Pharmacy and the Cypress Pharmacy before starting the UC Davis Specialty Pharmacy.

Dr. Mitchell has been a preceptor for students from UOP and USCF and precepted residents in the areas of specialty pharmacy and management. He serves as a UCSF Assistant Clinical Professor. He also has presented at national conferences in the areas of specialty pharmacy, data analytics and 340b.
